Will Kansas finally get their act together as the Big 12 Tournament kicks off?

Neither Iowa State nor Baylor has much momentum heading in to this game, while the Texas Longhorns seek to upset a struggling Kansas team. That goes down today in college basketball betting action!

[Thursday, March 14th]

Iowa State Cyclones -3.0 vs. Baylor Bears  (12:30pm ET)

Talk about entering a game on a slump. Iowa State was clowned down the stretch, at just 2-6 SU and ATS in their final 8 games. That included a 69-73 loss to the Baylor Bears. It's been tough sledding backing the Cyclones. Baylor hasn't been much better, with a horrifying 1-7-2 ATS stretch to end the season that was highlighted by just four wins. This game is a bit of a dice roll either way, but Iowa State profiles as a better bet overall. It's where a slight majority of the action is going anyhow, and in tough games like this, sometimes you just have to follow the herd.

NCAAB Free Pick - Iowa State -3.0

TCU Horned Frogs vs. #15 Kansas State Wildcats -4.0 (3pm ET)

After a brief nightmare scenario was salvaged against Oklahoma State in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament, TCU should come out with a lot more discipline against the fearsome Kansas State Wildcats. The main issue is that it might not matter. The Wildcats are simply that much better than TCU, sweeping the season series and going a marvelous 14-2 SU in conference play. I would love it if this spread was bigger, but as is usually the case with the early goings of these conference tournaments, I'm forced to go chalk.

NCAAB Free Pick - Kansas State -4.0

West Virginia Mountaineers vs. #7 Texas Tech Raiders -12.5 (7:00pm ET)

This is the kind of spread that drives you crazy. Texas Tech has been absolutely mesmerizing this season, and West Virginia has been the total inverse of that. Don't let that huge number next to the Red Raiders scare you. West Virginia went just 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS against double-digit spreads when in conference play.

NCAAB Free Pick - Texas Tech -12.5

Texas Longhorns at #18 Kansas Jayhawks -2.5 (9:30pm ET)

The fact that the line on this game is so slim should tell you everything you need to know about the Kansas Jayhawks. This is the first time in 15 seasons that Bill Self's team hasn't earned a chunk of the regular season title in the Big 12. And there are plenty of reasons to be concerned about how the Jayhawks are going to perform in the conference tournament. The reason? Kansas doesn't travel well. They are just 3-6 SU in-conference and went 1-3 ATS when favored in four of those games. This just isn't the same Kansas team that we're used to seeing.

Normally, Texas would be a very strong play here as an underdog but the line is too slim. The Longhorns are just one game above .500 on the season, and no matter how much I want to shovel dirt on to the corpse of this Kansas program, they are still far and away superior to a Texas team that went 1-4 SU to finish the season.

NCAAB Free Pick - Kansas -2.5
