While some games in college football are important for the regional and national implications that come with victory, others draw our eyes in the same way we feel compelled to watch high-speed car chases — for the inevitable carnage that will undoubtedly ensue.

In the case of this weekend’s early window matchup between Penn State and Nebraska, it is certainly the latter.

Penn State is 0-3 and 0-3 against the spread in 2020, while Nebraska is 0-2 and 0-2 ATS. Both teams have two of the more loyal fan bases in the country, so while this won’t decide much in the way of any conference championship race, it’s likely to draw the most eyeballs and money of any game during the Noon ET slot.

Both teams have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Penn State lost a heartbreaker in its opening game against Indiana in overtime, and Nebraska blew multiple red-zone opportunities last week against Northwestern. Neither team looks all that dangerous on offense, but at home, the Nebraska offense will feel a boost, even if it is playing in front of a stadium that won’t be full for the first time in decades.

Will Penn State cover the spread against Nebraska in Week 11?

The Nebraska defense looked tough against Northwestern, with just 21 points allowed and two forced turnovers, and held tough through a half against Ohio State. The Cornhuskers have seven redshirt senior starters and will continue Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford’s rough season.

Penn State and Nebraska betting trends

  • Penn State is 1-5 ATS in its last six games as a favorite
  • The underdog is 3-0-2 ATS in the last five games between Nebraska and Penn State

Pick: Nebraska +3
