What is the format for the Ryder Cup?
Friday's round will consist of four foursome (alternate shot) matches in the morning and four fourball (best ball) matches in the afternoon. The reverse will happen on Saturday, while Sunday will be made up entirely of singles matches in which all team members play.
A total of 28 matches will be completed and all matches are 18 holes. Team captains can choose any eight players to participate in Friday and Saturday's rounds. The foursome and fourball matches will pit two teams of two golfers against one another.
The winner of each match scores one point for his team. A half point is awarded for any match that is tied after 18 holes.
The first team to accumulate 14 1/2 points will win the Ryder Cup. If both teams finish in a tie (14 points each), the title goes to the reigning champion.
Team Europe won most recently in 2018, and has won seven of the past nine Ryder Cup events.
