BetAmerica bettor needs a Minor Cy Young for a big score
Pitching a bet on Cy Young
Action is balanced on the World Series here at BetAmerica Sportsbook, but we do have one bettor hoping for a big payday betting on the Cy Young Award. This bettor is hoping to cash in on Texas Rangers pitcher Mike Minor’s hot start to the season. He holds a $100 ticket on Minor to win the American League Cy Young Award at 300-1 odds.
BetAmerica baseball analyst Robert Criscola has other opinions in a turn from his daily free baseball picks. He believes Justin Verlander (+150) is a "clear frontrunner" in the AL, but holds Charlie Morton (+300) as the best value. In the National League, Robert thinks either Max Scherzer (-200) or Hyun-Jin Ryu (+125) will walk away with the Cy Young, but suggests Zack Greinke (+1500) as the best value.
World Series action
Only two teams catch a definite root-against stance from the BetAmerica bookmakers—the Minnesota Twins, who currently lead the AL Central, and the Washington Nationals, who sit in the first Wild Card position in the NL. Washington is six games back of NL East leader Atlanta. Two wagers we will be tracking related to our World Series action are a $200 ticket with Washington at 35-1 and a $100 ticket on Minnesota at 66-1. In April, Minnesota's line hit +3500 on BetAmerica and currently sits at +900, while Washington opened in March at +1800 and has moved to +2500.
There seems to be a consensus that the Twins are serious contenders to win the World Series. Covers.com has mentioned how a variety of sportsbooks have noticed the public’s betting opinion. Two other teams mentioned were the formerly cursed Chicago Cubs and the streaky Milwaukee Brewers.
Opinions aside, whatever the postseason holds for the MLB, one thing is for sure. There are teams on the move that started slow, or really slow, that now sit in contention and allow for early lucrative bets to be within the lines of possibility. However, for BetAmerica, a Minor detail in America’s pastime could lead to a "bettor" payoff than the World Series champions.
