The 2021 All-Star Game festivities have come and gone, and now is a good time to recap the action. Several stories from Colorado top this week’s MLB Notebook!
AL Prevails
The junior circuit prevailed in Tuesday’s main event after jumping out to a 4-0 lead through 4 1/2 innings of play.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. keyed the early spurt with a 468-foot moonshot in the third inning, while catcher Mike Zunino added an insurance run with a solo homer of his own in the sixth.
Alonso Dazzles in the Derby
Pete Alonso continued his reign as Home Run Derby champ by running through the bracket Monday night. He defeated Salvador Perez 35-28 in the first round, edged Juan Soto 16-15 in the semifinals, and topped Trey Mancini 23-22 in the finals.
Alonso won the event in 2019, and the Derby was not held in 2020 due to COVID-19.
MLB Action Resumes Thursday
One single game is on the slate for Thursday afternoon, as the Boston Red Sox travel to New York to take on the rival Yankees.

Both teams enter play on less-than-inspiring notes. The Red Sox lost four of their last five contests before the break, while the Bronx Bombers have gone 0-6 against the hated Red Sox so far this season.
The Latest on Trevor Bauer
Major League Baseball has extended Trevor Bauer’s administrative leave through July 27. This is significant, as that period now goes past a hearing set for July 23, one that revolves around the domestic violence restraining order filed by a woman last month.
Both MLB and the Pasadena Police Department are conducting investigations, and Bauer’s camp has called his sexual encounters with the woman "wholly consensual."
