October 18th, 2021

After splitting the first two games at Minute Maid Park, the Boston Red Sox will head back to Fenway Park with a chance to take a 2-1 lead in the ALCS over the Houston Astros on Monday night. But the ‘Stros will certainly not go quietly in this spot.

In addition to traditional sides, TwinSpires is also offering a litany of player prop wagers for this contest. We’ll highlight our three favorites below.

Eduardo Rodriguez Over/Under 3.5 strikeouts

Eduardo Rodriguez will toe the rubber for the Red Sox in this one against Jose Urquidy. While pitching at home is to many a starter’s advantage, that’s not been the case for Rodriguez in 2021. He owns a 3.95 ERA over 95 2/3 innings on the road this year, but a 5.95 ERA over 62 innings at Fenway.

Rodriguez was also rocked by the Astros on two occasions during the regular season, as he sports an 11.57 ERA against this opponent over 9 1/3 innings of work. Only the Tampa Bay Rays had a better road offense than Houston this year (5.45 runs per game), so don’t be surprised if Rodriguez is chased before he can record four strikeouts.

MLB pick: Under (+109)

Alex Bregman Over/Under 0.5 RBI

Astros third baseman Alex Bregman figures to be one of the batters giving Rodriguez and company fits in Game 3.

Bregman is 5-for-12 lifetime (.417) with two home runs off Rodriguez, and is batting .333 with four RBI in these playoffs (24 at-bats). He’s available at -225 to extend his postseason hitting streak to seven games, but we’ll roll the dice and try for a bigger price with Bregman in the RBI market, as the ‘Stros should generate plenty of traffic on the bases in this one.

MLB pick: Over (+188)

Christian Arroyo Over/Under 0.5 Hits

Boston second baseman Christian Arroyo is in the Red Sox lineup for his glove more so than his bat, so don’t be afraid to bet against him hitting safely on Monday night.

Arroyo has never faced Urquidy, who owns a solid 3.86 ERA and .229 opponent batting average on the road in 2021 (10 starts) and held the Red Sox to one run over six frames in his lone start against them this year. Arroyo also owns a paltry .202 batting average at Fenway this year (94 at-bats).

As long as Houston doesn’t have to go deep into their bullpen, they should keep Arroyo out of the hit column in Game 3.

MLB pick: Under (+120)
