Choi is a relentless battler

After dropping his first pair of fights in the UFC, Choi bounced back and has won three in a row. He put forward an impressive performance in his last bout, a first round KO win over Julian Erosa, last June.

A former Muay Thai champion in his native South Korea, Choi can go from measured to explosive at the flip of a switch. He’s shown good ground control as well, which will serve him well against an opponent who will aim to diffuse his power with takedowns and submissions.

Caceres is trying to maintain momentum

Caceres turned pro in 2008, often rattling off a pair of victories followed by multiple defeats. He’s been around the block for a long time, but his recent four-fight win streak matches a career high.

Durability may not be Caceres’ strong point, but he is a well-seasoned veteran who can be problematic if he can successfully take his opponents down. He’s scored six submission wins in his career, and has a respectable 78% success rate on his takedowns.

Choi will blast Caceres out

A common theme of Caceres’ career is that if he doesn’t get off first, he gets put down dramatically. He displays a shaky chin when he’s being out-striked and is easy to submit if he gets taken down. Choi’s combination striking along with his own solid takedown game makes this a pretty easy fight to call.

Those Muay Thai clinches can be nasty, especially if a competitor can’t fight their way out of them. With this fight fixing to be one that will remain in close quarters, Choi will have plenty of opportunities to unload on Caceres and leave him reeling.

Caceres is taking the toughest fight he’s had in a while, and Choi has shown enough elements in his game that makes him a genuine threat. Unable to damage him or overpower him on the ground, Caceres will be a sitting duck for Choi. While a stoppage isn’t out of the question here, Choi should piece up the veteran and earn a lopsided decision win.
