Ige is still looking for a breakthrough

Ige is a perennial lurker at the top of the featherweight division, almost always inching towards a major fight before he suffers a setback. In his last bout, Ige scored a highlight-reel stoppage against Gavin Tucker after just 22 seconds of action.

He is a volume striker that can overwhelm his opponents with pure activity. We saw with Tucker that he can land an explosive shot. His ground game is also top-notch, though he has transitioned more towards being a striker, and hasn’t won a fight by submission in over three years.

Jung is a dangerous striker

"The Korean Zombie" was last seen taking a lopsided loss to Brian Ortega last October, and he didn’t look good. Regarded as one of the most exciting fighters in the business, Jung has taken as much punishment as he’s given out.

Like Ige, Jung has established credentials in his striking and ground game, but hasn’t scored a submission in eight years. He’s been mixing victories with defeats across his last six fights, but all those wins came by knockout.

Ige will overwhelm Jung

The forecast for this fight calls for heavy violence with a chance of severe blood loss. Ige and Jung aren’t going to feel each other out for too long before they try to impose their will on each other, but things might go south for Jung in a hurry.

While Ige is inconsistent, he’s the fresher fighter and has enjoyed success against this level of competition. Jung has picked up a lot of miles over the course of his career, and looked awful in his last fight.

All Ige has to do is make it out of the first round. Since 2013, anyone who went beyond the first round with Jung ended up beating him. While it might get dicey, Ige will get the job done, and will overwhelm Jung to score his second straight stoppage.
