Kansas Speedway is the site for Sunday’s Buschy McBusch Race 400 (3:00 p.m. ET, FS1), a NASCAR Cup Series event that was named by the fans via contest.

The tepid race favorite is – for the second straight week – Denny Hamlin (+550). His string of six straight Top 5 finishes was stopped last Sunday, as he was involved in an accident at Talladega en route to a 32nd place result.

Hamlin is tied for the most wins (three) at Kansas among active drivers with Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano, but he’s led the fewest laps at the Kansas City, KS oval of the three (342). Let’s look for some alternatives as we make our selections for the Buschy McBusch Race 400.

Martin Truex Jr. (+650)

Martin Truex Jr. unfortunately clipped teammate Hamlin at Talladega last week and triggered a wreck in a 31st-place effort. But the No. 19 Toyota driver can put that performance in the past as he heads to Kansas this week.

Truex Jr. swept the Kansas races in 2017, and has tallied five Top 10s in six events here since. Only Harvick has led more laps than the New Jersey native (949 to 803) at this course among active Cup Series participants.

He’ll start his day in 15th place by virtue of NASCAR’s metric-based formula.

Kevin Harvick (+900)

Much like Hamlin, who dominated the sport along with him in 2020, Harvick is still in search of his first victory of the season. While Harvick has not been as good as he was a year ago, he’s still putting together some solid efforts on a weekly basis and should not be ignored at a decent price.

Harvick has seven Top 10s this year through 10 races, second only to Hamlin (eight) and William Byron. That includes his fourth-place finish at Talladega last week.

In 30 career races at Kansas, Harvick has amassed 10 Top 5s and an average finishing position of 9.3, both the best among active drivers.

Harvick starts in fourth place.

William Byron (+1600)

It’s been a banner year for Byron, and his success could continue with an upset score in the Buschy McBusch Race 400.

Byron has put together a Cup Series-best eight straight Top 10s, which began with a surprise score at Homestead-Miami. He’s enjoyed recent success at Kansas too, recording three consecutive Top 10s with 31 laps led and a stage placing.

Byron begins his day in second, alongside pole sitter Brad Keselowski.
