NASCAR Dixie Vodka 400 preview
The NASCAR drivers will head to Homestead-Miami Speedway this Sunday for the Dixie Vodka 400 (3:30 p.m., FOX). This race is unique in respect to the last seven that have preceded it, in that there will be spectators allowed on site. NASCAR has invited 1,000 military members from the Homestead Air Reserve Base and U.S. Southern Command in Doral to attend.
When the green flag drops, Denny Hamlin will be in front by virtue of winning a random draw. He’s looking to overcome a terrible race at Martinsville on Wednesday in which he was down a lap or more for most of the 500 laps, but he will have crew chief Chris Gabehart back following a four-race suspension.

We crunched the numbers and came up with these three drivers as our top picks for Sunday’s Dixie Vodka 400.
Odds to win the Dixie Vodka 400
Driver | Dixie Vodka 400 Odds |
---|
Kyle Busch | +500 |
Kevin Harvick | +500 |
Martin Truex Jr. | +500 |
Chase Elliott | +700 |
Brad Keselowski | +1000 |
Joey Logano | +1000 |
Denny Hamlin | +1000 |
Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick’s average finishing position in 19 career starts at Homestead is 6.42, far and away the best mark among active drivers. No one comes close to his 11 Top 5 finishes in that span. Only Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth have led more laps at Homestead than Harvick (414).
"The Closer" seeks his second win in a one week span (he scored in the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta last Sunday) and his third triumph of the season. He’ll start seventh.
Martin Truex Jr.
Fresh off a victory at Martinsville on Wednesday night, Martin Truex Jr. visits another one of his favorite venues in Homestead-Miami. Truex won on this oval in 2017 – his championship season – and ran second in each of his last two efforts.

His triumph at Martinsville was hardly a fluke – Truex has placed Top 10 in six of NASCAR’s first seven races since the season resumed. He’ll start sixth on Sunday afternoon.
Joey Logano
Joey Logano has an average finishing position of fourth over his last five races at Homestead-Miami. That includes his championship-clinching victory in 2018. He’s led 158 laps in that span.
Logano won twice over the first four races of 2020 but hasn’t won since the season resumed on May 17. However, he has four Top 10 finishes (and was robbed of at least a Top 5 in a late crash at Bristol) and has led 333 laps over his last seven efforts. Logano starts second on Sunday.
