Toyota Owners 400: NASCAR betting odds, preview, and value picks

The NASCAR Cup Series drivers will go short track racing for the first time this season when they visit Richmond Raceway for the Toyota Owners 400 on Sunday afternoon (3:30 p.m. ET, FOX).

Six different drivers have won the first six races of the 2022 campaign, and Chase Elliott is the +800 favorite to be the seventh unique winner of the year. Though the odds aren’t too short on him, we believe bettors should seek other options.

Here are our top three upset selections for Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400.

With three victories in his last five races at Richmond, it’s hard not to view Martin Truex Jr. as a viable threat to win the Toyota Owners 400.

Truex has led at least 80 laps in eight of his last 10 trips to this 3/4-mile oval, placing in 17 of a possible 18 stages (four stage victories) in that span. In addition to his three triumphs, Truex also has three Top 5s over his last six races at Richmond.

The 2022 season is off to slow start by Truex’s standards, but with three Top 10s in his last four races, it would be hard to claim that he came out of nowhere to win on Sunday. Assuming Truex qualifies well on Saturday morning, the No. 19 Toyota could easily end up in victory lane.

Joey Logano (+1000)

Joey Logano goes for his third career victory at Richmond on Sunday, and it’s very possible that he will get it.

Logano – whose most recent win over this course came in 2017 – has tallied three consecutive Top 5s here, leading 94 laps and placing in all six stages in the process.

Despite finishing 31st at Circuit of the Americas last week, Logano is currently third in the NASCAR Cup Series points standings, just 23 points behind Elliott for the lead. He has 33 laps led and three Top 10s under his belt with six races in the books.

Christopher Bell (+1400)

After finishing third at COTA last week, Christopher Bell has a little momentum on his side heading into one of his better racetracks in Richmond for the Toyota Owners 400.

Bell has an average finish of 7.33 through three Cup Series tries at Richmond, the second-best mark among active drivers. He led 10 laps en route to a third-place result here last September.

The No. 20 Toyota driver has three wins in five Xfinity Series races over this course, with 457 laps led.
