Xfinity Series Unhinged 300 preview

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Talladega Superspeedway this Saturday, June 20 for the Unhinged 300 (5:30 p.m. ET, FS1).

Chase Briscoe, fourth in this race a year ago, is the +600 favorite to win at the testing 2.66-mile oval. He took part two of the Homestead-Miami doubleheader last weekend, giving him a series-leading three wins on the season (10 races). But Talladega has the tendency to produce some wild races and unexpected winners, so let’s go looking for value with our trio of picks for the Unhinged 300.

Noah Gragson (+700)

The Xfinity Series points leader, and the leader of the most laps through 10 races (317), Noah Gragson looks like a solid wager at Talladega this Saturday.

The 21-year-old took the season’s opening race at Daytona, the other superspeedway on the Xfinity Series circuit, and the race at Bristol earlier this month. Gragson has just one finish outside the Top 5 in the six races since the season resumed.

Austin Cindric (+1000)

A two-time winner in 2019, Austin Cindric is still looking to get off the schneid in 2020. He has a decent shot to do so at Talladega.

Cindric, who has seven Top 10 finishes this year, wrecked at Daytona in February but hit the Top 5 in each of his previous three starts at superspeedways. He was nosed out of a victory at Homestead-Miami over the weekend by Harrison Burton, losing by less than two-tenths of a second. Cindric led 24 laps that day and another 128 in the races sandwiching that effort.

Harrison Burton (+1100)

Xfinity Series rookie Harrison Burton eclipsed a 15-year record set by Carl Edwards when he placed in the Top 10 for the 10th straight time in the second half of the Homestead-Miami doubleheader over the weekend. No rookie had ever recorded more than nine consecutive Top 10 finishes in the series.

Burton’s consistency has helped him to his current third-place standing on the season. The 19-year-old already has a victory at Auto Club Speedway and Homestead-Miami (Race 1) from earlier this season. The value is there.
