Bills vs. Chiefs: The best receiving props for the AFC Championship game

Two of the better offenses in the NFL will collide at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship game as the Buffalo Bills visit the Kansas City Chiefs.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Chiefs signal caller Patrick Mahomes each have an embarrassment of riches around them in terms of perimeter talent. This makes for some very interesting receiving props for this game. We’ll dive into a trio of them below.

Stefon Diggs receiving yards

Kansas City’s defense will be hard-pressed to contain the NFL’s leading receiver in 2020 –Stefon Diggs – who’s having an excellent playoff run thus far.

Diggs has eclipsed the 94-yard plateau in five of his last six games. The one game he failed to cross that threshold was in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins, where he was benched (resting ahead of the playoffs) at halftime after recording 76 receiving yards.

The Maryland product went for 128 yards against the Indianapolis Colts in the Wild Card round, and 106 yards against the Baltimore Ravens last Saturday. With the way Diggs is playing right now, there’s no defense that can contain him, let alone the Chiefs’ 14th-rated pass stoppers (236.2 passing yards allowed per game).

Travis Kelce receptions

Travis Kelce has been a paragon of consistency for the Chiefs’ offense, as he’s tallied exactly eight receptions in six of his last seven games. The outlier was a seven-reception game in Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Kelce will match up with a Buffalo defense that allowed a league-worst 92 receptions to tight ends in 2020. The postseason has been a mixed bag in this department for the Bills. Colts tight ends Jack Doyle, Trey Burton and Mo Alie-Cox combined for 14 receptions in the Wild Card round (Doyle led with seven), while the Ravens’ Mark Andrews was held to just four catches.

Dawson Knox receptions

Bills tight end Dawson Knox had a strong conclusion to the regular season, averaging exactly three receptions per game over his last five outings. He then hauled in a pair of receptions each, including a touchdown, in his first two postseason starts of the year.

The Chiefs allowed the eighth-most receptions in the NFL to tight ends this year, so don’t be surprised if Allen calls upon Knox in some crucial spots in the AFC Championship Game.
