Chiefs vs. Buccaneers: Which team are bettors backing heading into Super Bowl LV?
We're two days away from Super Bowl LV, and most bettors are backing the Kansas City Chiefs to repeat as champions.
The Chiefs, led by their young star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are favored to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 43-year-old quarterback Tom Brady, who has six Super Bowl titles to his name.

The most recent numbers from TwinSpires Sports reveal that 66% of bets, and 60% of the money, is on Kansas City.
That’s hardly a surprise. In addition to being the defending champions, the Chiefs rolled through the regular season with a 14-2 record, and have looked dominant at times in the playoffs. Kanas City defeated the Cleveland Browns 22-17 in the NFL Divisional Round, and crushed the Buffalo Bills 38-24 in the AFC Championship Game.
The Chiefs' offense can be explosive. Try to take away receiver Tyreek Hill, whose main asset is blinding speed, and you have to deal with Travis Kelce, the best tight end in football. Mahomes can extend plays with his feet, he has a cannon for an arm, and he’s not afraid to finesse throws into tight spaces that defenders typically don't anticipate.

While the Chiefs have been the popular team to bet on, there have been significant wagers starting to roll in on the Buccaneers to pull off the upset, and win the franchise's second Super Bowl title.

The Chiefs defeated the Buccaneers earlier in the season by a score of 27-24. Kansas City jumped out to a 27-10 lead in the third quarter and held on from there as Tampa Bay’s late comeback attempt came up just short.
Bettors also like the Chiefs to cover. They’re currently three-point favorites, but the line did move from 3.5 earlier in the week. Kansas City was 8-10 against the spread this past season, while Tampa Bay was 4-1 against the spread as an underdog. About 66% of bets are on the Chiefs to cover the spread.
Some bettors also expect to see a thrilling, high-scoring game on Sunday between two very strong offenses.
Outside of three turnovers against Green Bay in the NFC Championship, Brady has been gathering strength down the stretch of the regular season into playoffs, and the Bucs' offense has been a driving factor in the Over hitting in four of the last six games Tampa Bay has played in.
The total was set at 56.5 as of Friday. And the weather in Tampa Bay is another factor to watch, which could bring the Under into question.

The majority of bets at TwinSpires Sports are on the Over, but the majority of the money - about 57% - is on the Under in this game.
At the end of the day, this matchup provides bettors with a difficult choice: Bet against Brady, or bet against Mahomes. For some, it may come down to the wire before a final decision is made and that bet is placed.
