NFL Notebook: Bills bounce back with big win over Saints

Thursday was Thanksgiving, and six National Football League teams were in action. Recaps of those contests headline this week’s NFL Notebook, which is presented with our hopes that you and yours had a happy Turkey Day!

Bills Get Back On Track

After a rough few weeks, Buffalo needed a big showing Thursday in New Orleans, and the Bills got one. Josh Allen threw four touchdown passes in a 31-6 drubbing of the Saints, one in which the Buffalo defense yielded just 190 yards of total offense.

New Orleans was without star running back Alvin Kamara, so the home team wasn’t without an excuse, but they’ve now lost four in a row ahead of next weekend’s contest against the Dallas Cowboys.

Las Vegas Edges Dallas In OT

The most entertaining game of the Thursday slate came in Dallas. The Las Vegas Raiders twice jumped out to 11-point leads, but the homestanding Cowboys fought back and sent the game to overtime. In the extra period, though, a chip shot field goal from Daniel Carlson (his fifth of the contest) gave the Raiders their sixth win of the season.

With the victory, Las Vegas moves to 6-5, and is just a game back of idle Kansas City in the AFC West.

Chicago Wins Ugly In Detroit

The Detroit Lions playing on Thanksgiving is a tradition, but that doesn’t mean it’s an enjoyable one. Indeed, the Chicago Bears trudged down the field in the fourth quarter with an 18-play, 69-yard drive, one that was capped off by a game-winning field goal from Cairo Santos.

The Lions remain winless on the 2021 season, and an 0-16-1 campaign remains very much in play.

Conference Contenders Clash Sunday

Two games on Sunday’s slate jump off the page. In the early window, the New England Patriots, winners of five straight, will host the Tennessee Titans in a battle of division leaders.
