Canucks vs. Sharks: The best player prop bets for Feb. 17

A big two points is up for grabs tonight as the Vancouver Canucks (22-21-6) travel to Silicon Valley to take on the San Jose Sharks (22-21-4). The Canucks, who lead the Sharks by just two points in the Pacific Division, currently sit five points out of a playoff spot. With the All-Star break behind us, the countdown to claim that final berth has begun.

J.T. MILLER GOAL SCORER

Coming off a one-goal, one-assist performance in a win against Toronto in his last game, Canucks' point leader J.T. Miller has been crucial to his team’s success this season as Vancouver is 11-2 when he scores a goal.

With two goals over his last three games, Miller now has 17 goals and 48 points this season, and is on pace to top his career best of 27 goals and 72 points, which came back in 2020. Vancouver's playoff hopes hinge on his goal-scoring prowess.

BO HORVAT OVER/UNDER 2.5 SHOTS ON GOAL

Another one of Vancouver’s dependable playmakers is their captain, Bo Horvat. His raw numbers may not wow you (14G, 12A), but he's repeatedly come through in the clutch when the Canucks have needed him most.

Horvat had four shots on net along with an assist, and matched his season-high of 24:38 minutes played in Vancouver's win against Toronto.

Averaging three shots on goal in his last five games and 2.84 per game across the season, we expect the All-Star to finish closer towards his statistical ceiling tonight, especially in such a meaningful game.

LOGAN COUTURE OVER/UNDER 2.5 SHOTS ON GOAL

After getting blanked in their last game against Edmonton, the Sharks may be in for another tough one as they go up against All-Star goaltender Thatcher Demko. The Canucks have led the league in fewest goals allowed per game (2.05) since their new coach, Bruce Boudreau, joined the team on Dec. 6. 

Trying to shake off a four-game losing streak and change the momentum with only two wins in their last 10 games, the Sharks will probably look to Logan Couture (14G, 20A) to be the catalyst tonight.

Couture tallied five shots along with a goal and an assist two games ago against Tampa Bay and seems to be the leading guy for the Sharks as his other two high scoring teammates, Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl, only have one point each in their last five games.
