Some of the NHL’s brightest stars will be shining in the national spotlight on Wednesday night as the Washington Capitals visit the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.
Capitals left winger Alex Ovechkin is fresh off a two-goal Tuesday night in Calgary, where he tied Jaromir Jagr for third on the all-time goals list. Oilers forwards Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are currently tied for the league lead in points, with the former in the thick of things for the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy too.
Let’s dive into the vast array of available player props for this tilt and make our top three selections.

Conor Sheary goal scorer
It’s been a memorable last two games for Conor Sheary, who scored his 100th career NHL goal against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday, then was named first star in Washington’s 5-4 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. Prop bettors are getting good odds on Sheary to continue this run of success on Wednesday night.

Sheary – who has four goals over his last four games – is being dangled at over +300 to tally another goal in this spot. He takes on an Edmonton defense that’s allowed 3.21 goals per game, the 10th-worst mark in the league.
NHL pick: Sheary anytime goal (+335)
Evander Kane to score at least one point
It appears that the Oilers were wise to take a flyer on the trouble-plagued Evander Kane, as he’s injected some much-needed secondary scoring into this offense.
Kane has accumulated eight goals and six assists over his first 18 games in Edmonton, with three goals and two assists coming in just six games at home. Playing at Rogers Place seems to agree with Kane, so count on him to find the scoresheet in this spot.
NHL pick: Yes (-165)
Leon Draisaitl Over/Under 2.5 shots on goal
Draisaitl’s goal-scoring pace has slowed down considerably as the season has progressed. After notching 15 tallies over 13 November games, the Cologne, Germany native has a modest-by-comparison 18 goals over his last 37 outings.

Part of this deceleration can be attributed to his shots-on-goal tally decreasing, as he’s recorded only 12 shots over his last seven games. That spells trouble for him against a Caps defense that’s fourth in the NHL in this department, with only 29 shots reaching their netminder per contest.
NHL pick: Under (+110)
