March 22nd, 2022

Scotiabank Saddledome is the site for a Tuesday night battle between the San Jose Sharks and the Calgary Flames.

The Sharks won each of the first two meetings of the season between these teams, but both took place before the Flames embarked on a 19-4-2 run from Jan. 24 to present. With Calgary now squarely on the road to the postseason, and San Jose looking at another early trip to the golf course, the Flames are huge home favorites.

Let’s take a look at the assortment of player props available to bettors for this matchup, and hand out our top three selections.

Logan Couture to score at least one point

Sharks captain Logan Couture has been a model of consistency of late, and he should earn yet another point on Tuesday night.

Couture has tallied at least one point in six of his last seven games, totaling two goals and four assists. He’s been a pest to opposing netminders, generating 24 shots on goal in that span.

The Over/Under on shots for Couture is 2.5 (Over +100), and he’s cleared the Over six straight times. However, the Flames are sixth-best in the NHL at limiting shots on goal (29.2 per game). Taking Couture to produce a point by any means, however, is a far more enticing proposition at this reasonable price.

NHL pick: Yes (-124)

Johnny Gaudreau goal scorer

Johnny Gaudreau currently leads his club in goals this month with eight, yet he’s the third choice among Flames players to score at any time in this one. Prop bettors should take advantage of this generous offering.

Gaudreau will go for his third goal in four games, and attempt to build his eighth multi-game scoring streak of the campaign. He’s generated consistent pressure on opposing goalies this month, accumulating 34 shots through 11 games.

NHL pick: Gaudreau anytime goal (+140)

Matthew Tkachuk to score at least two points

Matthew Tkachuk’s production tends to come in bunches, so prop players may want to take a swing on him to score multiple points in this one.

Tkachuk has at least one point in 10 of his last 16 games, with eight of those being multi-point performances. He has multiple points in each of the last three games in which his team was not shut out.

The Sharks are a modest defensive team, allowing 3.11 goals per game, 19th in the NHL. They should afford Tkachuk and company ample opportunities to register points.

NHL pick: Yes (+205)
