Bundesliga picks: Bayern Munich primed for another big outing

The machine that is Bayern Munich continues to press on toward the Bundesliga title.

Bayern Munich has won six consecutive matches since the Bundesliga resumed play, for the most part dispatching the opposition with relative ease. That was especially true last weekend during a decisive 4-2 victory against Bayer Leverkusen, which is in a fight for a spot in UEFA Champions League.

On Saturday, Bayern Munich faces Monchengladbach, which sits fourth in the Bundesliga table.

Here are three intriguing wagers available at BetAmerica for Bundesliga Matchday 31.

Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Monchedgladbach

Monchengladbach

Monchengladbach defeated Bayern Munich earlier this season, capturing a 2-1 victory in December despite Bayern Munich holding the edge in possession (62%), total shots (16-7), and shots on target (7-3). Monchengladbach scored in the second half to draw even before scoring what would be the winning goal on a penalty in stoppage time.

Credit Monchengladbach for hanging tough and getting three points out of that one. But since the return of the Bundesliga last month, the competition hasn’t mattered. Bayern Munich has been on another level. Since play resumed, Bayern Munich, the highest scoring team in the league, has scored 17 goals in five Bundesliga matches and is averaging three goals-for per game for the entire season.

Monchengladbach is one of the better defensive clubs, allowing only 36 goals-against in 30 matches, but Bayern Munich has continued to show that they can create opportunities against any club.

On average, four goals per match have been scored during Bayern Munich games this year and this matchup has the potential for some fireworks. If these teams begin to trade chances, which they’ve done in the past, the goals shouldn’t be far behind and that favors Bayern Munich to go over 2.5 total Team goals.

Pick: Bayern Munich Over 2.5 team goals (+100)

Fortuna Dusseldorf vs. Borussia Dortmund

Dusseldorf

Dortmund

-275

Dortmund is a significant favorite against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday, and there is very little value in taking them to win.

Second in the Bundesliga table, Dortmund has won four of five matches since the return of play, and will face a Dusseldorf side that is looking to escape the clutches of possible relegation. This should be a game that Dortmund ultimately gets three points out of.

What could add value for a Dortmund win are the match winner and Over/Under first half goals props.

For whatever reason, Dortmund’s matches just don’t feature much scoring in the first half and that trend has continued over the past month.

Only once in the last five games has Dortmund and its opponent combined to go over 1.5 first half goals. The Over for this market didn’t even hit when Dortmund dropped SC Paderborn by a score of 6-1 a couple of weeks ago. Seems strange in a seven-goal outburst, but all the scoring in that match occurred in the second half.

Taking Dortmund to win and Under 1.5 first half goals might be a good way to squeeze a little added value from what should be a victory for the favorites.

Pick: Dortmund to win and Under 1.5 first half goals (+120)

SC Paderborn vs. Werder Bremen

Sat, June 13 2020, 1:30 PM

Paderborn

+215

Draw

+280

Werder Bremen

+120

We’re saving the best for last here with SC Paderborn against Werder Bremen in a match featuring two clubs fighting to avoid relegation.

The Bundesliga has its share of high-scoring matches, but this isn’t shaping up to be one of them. In six matches since play resumed, Werder Bremen has scored three goals and has been held without a goal in each of its last two matches.

Paderborn hasn’t fared much better on the attack, also with only three goals-for since play resumed.

Sitting at the bottom of the table and five points behind Werder Bremen, Paderborn badly needs a win if it has any chance of getting into a relegation playoff. There is some onus on them to open it up a little more and go for the win, but goals have been largely difficult to come by.

Paderborn scored a 1-0 win over Werder Bremen earlier in the year. That was a low-scoring game and bettors shouldn’t expect anything different this time around. It’s never fun to root for an under in any game or sport, but it seems just too optimistic to expect these clubs to suddenly break out into a goal fest.

Pick: Under 2.5 total goals (+120)
