Wolves happy to return home from London

After a pair of defeats in London over the past two weeks, Wolves will be happy to return home to Molineaux. Their 1-0 loss at West Ham was preceded by a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, dropping them to eighth in the table and outside of the European spots.

After a four-match win streak, Wolves have tasted defeat in four of their last six matches in all competitions. However, they have lost just twice at home since September, with top-end sides Arsenal and Tottenham being the only teams to take all three points at Molineaux.

Bruno Lage will be keen to get back in the win column after Wolves suffered consecutive defeats for the first time in 2022, and the match should see Raul Jimenez, Joao Moutinho, and Daniel Podence all return to the starting XI after being named to the bench against the Hammers. Pedro Neto has come off the bench his last three matches since returning from injury, and is likely ready to start as well. Nelson Semedo will miss out, and could be done for the season with a muscle injury.

Wolves have conceded first-half goals just twice in their last 19 Premier League matches, but they have also scored just one goal in their last three at home. They will hope to see their fortunes on the attacking end improve against a Palace side that has kept just one clean sheet in their last nine matches.

Palace hoping to score at Molineaux

Patrick Vieira’s side travels north on Saturday looking to do something just two Palace sides have done in 29 previous attempts. Following their 2-0 win in the reverse fixture, the Eagles would secure just their third-ever double over Wolves with a victory—and their first ever with both sides in the Premier League.

Palace will also look to do something they have failed to do in their last three trips to Molineaux: score a goal. They have suffered defeat in three straight matches away against Wolves, the reverse of a trend that has seen them enjoy a pair of successive clean-sheet victories in the rivalry. Palace will also seek a Premier League win for just the second time ever on Wolves’ home turf.

Palace drew 1-1 with Burnley in their last Premier League outing, but defeated Stoke City 2-1 in mid-week to advance to the FA Cup quarterfinals. They did not look impressive in the outing, but they rested many key players. Wins have been hard to come by for the side, with a 4-1 win over lowly Watford being their lone Premier League victory since the calendar turned over.

With matches against Manchester City, Newcastle, and Arsenal on deck, Palace know they need a result against Wolves if they have any hopes of finishing in the top half of the table. Joel Ward and Nathan Ferguson will miss out, while Wilifred Zaha will likely move back out wide after starting at striker against Burnley.

Wolves vs. Crystal Palace Betting Trends

  • The last eight meetings between these two teams have seen two or fewer goals scored
  • The home team has won the last five meetings via clean sheet
  • Wolves have seen two or fewer goals scored in eight of their 12 Premier League matches at Molineaux this season
  • Just four of Wolves' last 16 Premier League matches have seen both teams find the back of the net
  • Palace have won just three of their last 16 matches in the Premier League, but are on a four-match unbeaten run away from home
  • Palace have won just once in their last eight away matches, and have been behind at the break in each of their last three away matches to Wolves.

Wolves will continue home dominance in low-scoring affair

While the hosts have struggled to score of late, I don’t see the trend ending on Saturday.

Wolves should continue to give Palace fits at Molineaux, and I like the hosts to secure their fourth-straight victory at home against the London side. Take Wolves to win outright in what should be a very low-scoring affair, with a 1-0 final score highly probable.

If you are looking for a nice Same Game Combo, we have a doozy for you. Protect against a scoreless draw by pairing the Wolves double chance with a low-scoring match Under 2.5 goals, and bank on Wolves to keep Palace off the scoresheet yet again. A win on this play would net you more than three times your wager.

Score prediction: Wolves 1-0 Crystal Palace

Premier League PICK: WOLVES Moneyline (+138)

SAME GAME COMBO: WOLVES DOUBLE CHANCE / UNDER 2.5 GOALS / PALACE UNDER 0.5 GOALS (+330)
