The ATP Monte-Carlo Masters semifinals take place Saturday, with Dusan Lajovic battling Daniil Medvedev and Borin Coric taking on Rafael Nadal.

Dusan Lajovic vs. (10) Daniil Medvedev

Lajovic handled Lorenzo Sonego in the quarterfinals 6-4, 7-5. It was Lajovic's fourth straight match where he didn't allow his opponent to win a set. Before defeating Sonego, he took care of Dominic Thiem 6-3, 6-3. Lajovic's had no hiccups on his way to the semifinals. No other player left in the Monte-Carlo Masters can say that, not even the great Rafael Nadal.

But while Lajovic has played exceptional tennis on the clay courts at the Monte-Carlo Masters, he's still a significant underdog (+195) against Daniil Medvedev (-250). Tennis fans watched with shock as Medvedev knocked out world No. 1 Novak Djokovic on Friday.

Medvedev defeated Djokovic 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the quarterfinal round. Even in the second set he lost, Medvedev pushed Djokovic every step of the way.

There's no quit in the 6-foot-6, 23-year-old Russian, but Lajovic won't just hand a  spot in the finals over to Medvedev because he's beaten a couple well-known players.

(13) Fabio Fognini vs. (2) Rafael Nadal

Star power remains in the 2019 Monte-Carlo Masters, as Nadal won his quarterfinal match against Guido Pella in two sets, but it wasn’t easy.

Pella pushed Nadal to 7-6 in the first set, then the world’s No. 2 player got into a groove and won 6-3 in the second.

Fognini lost the first set to Borna Coric in the quarterfinals 1-6. He bounced back beautifully in the next two, taking down Coric 6-3, and 6-2. It doesn't appear as if Fognini has much of a shot to beat Nadal on Saturday, but Fognini has beaten Nadal in the past.
